According to some Danes Liver pate – “Leverpostej” is more Danish than the Danish monarchy. This is based on the fact that there are more Danes that eat “Leverpostej” than there are supporters of the royal family – a much appreciated institution in Denmark. Liver Paste is the undisputed champion of all the “Smørrebrød” toppings. Its basic ingredient is of course liver (usually chopped pork liver) and lard with onions.
