Pay a visit to Saint Émilion. Saint Émilion is a small medieval UNESCO World Heritage town 35 km or 45 minutes drive from Bordeaux. The whole route through the historic vineyards is idyllic & so is the hilly, cobblestoned village, considered one of France’s main tourist attractions.

This exquisite little town sits on a hill with spectacular view of the surrounding vineyards planted by the Romans during the 2nd century & classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site from 1999, the first time a wine making region in the world received this designation.

The town on the hill of 1000 châteaux with the little winding streets & charming houses was founded in the 8th century by a hermit monk named Emilion who carved a small cave home. This is only one of the famous underground points of interest in the renowned for its catacombs town. You should visit this place if you want your trip to Bordeaux to be whole.
