Alioli. The Spanish garlic mayonnaise Alioli originated in Catalunya & became popular all over Spain. It is a quick & easy flavourful mixture of all (garlic) and oli (oil) whipped with egg yolk. The result is a creamy sauce of several variations savored with bread, fish, meat, vegetables…well everything really. The traditional version of this sauce did not have egg yolks but the yolks made the mixture easier to whip. If you enjoy spicy sauces you can spice up Alioli with a seasoning of cayenne pepper.
If you want the best Alioli in town you can visit Ten’s Tapas Restaurant at Carrer del Rec, 79. Ten’s is a modern and elegant tapas restaurant with an extensive menu offering traditional tapas modernized by its chef Jordi Cruz. The space is as modern as the choices on the menu with a nice bar, a terrace you can use if the weather permits it, a main dining hall and a private room. The food here is so good that is very doubtful you’ll stick just to Alioli.
