Spend a morning at Middelheim Open Air Museum & park. A walk in the favorite green lung of the city is not just a walk in a park. The free entrance art park/open-air museum of Middelheim may be on the outskirts of the city but it is surely worth the trouble. Accessible by bus & tram the Middelheim Open Air Sculpture Museum & Park includes a collection of more than 1800 works of art, collected over a period of more than 50 years.

Works that date from around 1900 to the present day and provide an excellent international overview of modern and contemporary art. The collection includes works by renowned artists like Auguste Rodin, Rik Wouters & Henry Moore. 

In addition to the sculptures in the museum park, which give an overview of more than one hundred years of sculpture, the museum also regularly hosts solo and group exhibitions as well as developing themed exhibitions with sculptures from the museum’s permanent collection.

The park itself is also a prime example of landscape art. The visit can be combined with a meal at its fine terrace restaurant or a picnic on its wide green spaces offering a unique experience of a naturalistic/cultural getaway.
