Joods Historisch Museum

On the east side of Waterlooplein lies the Joods Historisch Museum. This is the only museum in the Netherlands dedicated to the Jewish historical heritage, the history, religion and culture of the Jews that lived and still live in the Netherlands and its former colonies.

The Joods Historisch Museum contains more than 30.000 artifacts, religious and historical objects that serve as the link between the exhibit and the individual stories of the permanent exhibition. The museum is located in the heart of Jewish quarter of Amsterdam in a building that is in essence the merger of four former Synagogues.

The temporary exhibitions of the museum very often manage to hold the interest of the public on their own with works from famous artists like Andy Warhol becoming an instant attraction. More
