Paks Margareeta
If we follow Pikk Street heading north towards the sea, then we will come across the UNESCO World Heritage complex of Paks Margareeta. The “Fat Margaret” complex includes a medieval shipwreck, an impressive exhibition of ship models and exciting digital interactive storytelling.
The recently renovated Estonian Maritime Museum in the Fat Margaret complex will take you on a visit to Estonia as a maritime country. A significant share of the traffic between Tallinn, which was included in the Hanseatic League, and its port occurred through the Great Coastal Gate (Suur Rannavärav), thus, this is the best place for telling the story of how Tallinn became wealthy by taking advantage of the sea.
The museum has a cafe and a rooftop cafe with a breath-taking view is opened in the summer season, with delicious food served by the MARU Café. The museum store offers maritime-themed souvenirs which will keep the journey through the history of Estonian seafaring fresh in your memories for many years to come. More
