Pastéis de Belém
Pastéis de Belém, also known as pastel de nata, is an original Portuguese egg tart pastry sprinkled with cinnamon that was allegedly created before the 18th Century by the Catholic monks in the Monasterio dos Jeronimos. They are made in the shape of a cup and sold all over Lisbon in bakeries and pastry shops usually just for 1 euro each. They are the most famous of all Portuguese pastries & they are heavenly. If you taste them fresh & warm from the oven you will not be able to stick to just one.
