Sardinhas Assadas
Sardinhas Assadas, which translates into grilled sardines, is a delicacy very popular in Lisbon especially during the month of June, when sardines are eaten during many outdoor festivals across Lisbon (The sardines are the symbol of the Santos Populares festivities, like St. Anthony’s feast).
The summer months in general are a great time to enjoy fresh sardines in Lisbon. The entire city smells of fresh sardines & this fish is something you will surely encounter in any restaurant, tavern or bar across the city. It pairs perfectly with a nice cold beer.
