Antwerpse handjes

Antwerpse handjes or Antwerp’s hands are the city’s traditional chocolate cookies since the 1930’s. They are -easy to guess- shaped in the form of a hand as a reference to the legend of the emergence of Antwerp. They are made of butter, sugar, eggs, flour and almonds and are best enjoyed along with a cup of hot coffee. The most popular version of the Antwerpse handjes is the one with the chocolate coating or chocolate filling.
