Kalverstraat Street
A great way to leave Dam square behind and move southwards to the next point of interest is to take one of the best known shopping streets in Europe, Kalverstraat Street. Kalverstraat is a pedestrian shopping heaven that stretches for about 800 meters. It is packed with all the usual retail suspects you can find in most European capitals but there are also some unique boutique shops and trendy local retailers scattered in between.
You can easily spend an hour or two just browsing through the shops and people’s faces. You could also grab a bite in one of the street’s restaurants, bars, cafes, fast foods, even cheese shops. The place is bustling with people, tourists and locals alike, especially in the weekends. It can be a bit overwhelming so it probably wouldn’t be a great idea to treat yourself with a space-cake before you get into this flowing river of consumerism. In any other occasion it is a great street to stroll through even if it’s just for people watching.
