Five minutes east of OBA Public Library you couldn’t possibly miss even if you wanted to a massive green building that looks like the bow of a ship, the NEMO Science Museum. In absolute harmony with its surrounding the striking creation of the famous architect Renzo Piano is the largest science center in Netherlands.
NEMO is a Science Museum for visitors of every age and background who want to take a dive in the exciting world of science. When it first opened in 1997 the building was the first decisive step towards the rebirth of the whole area. On its roof lies the highest public square in the country. Inside interactive exhibitions about the universe, about the sensational science of natural phenomena, about the scientific evolution through the ages, about mathematics, machines, energy, constructions and laboratory experiments, of new discoveries on the most uncharted of all fields, the human brain.
If you are NOT into science and technology then this IS just the place for you . This place can convey in the most playful way possible the love for both. If you are fond of both fields then the visit to this place is a no-brainer. If you are only interested on coffee, beer and good views, then you’ll skip the whole museum and you’ll head to the roof. The visit is definitely worth it even if it is just for that. The museum receives about half a million visitors every year. There must be a good reason for that. More
