Pinakothek der Moderne
Finally, the Pinakothek der Moderne right next to the Alte Pinakothek is one of Munich’s main attractions & one of the most famous exhibition centers in the world. It brings together four independent museums, the Collection of Modern Art of the Bavarian State Painting Collections, the New Collection of the Munich Design Museum, the Architecture Museum of the Technical University of Munich & the State Graphic Collection.
The imposing 15.000 m² building with its 25 meters high glass dome covers a collection that spans all directions of classical modern and contemporary art. From Expressionism, Cubism, Bauhaus, and New Objectivity on Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism to Pop Art and Minimal Art. These collections are added to one of the most important graphic collections in the world with about 350.000 prints & 45.000 drawings.
