Escalivada

The most typical of all salads in Barcelona & generally Catalunya is the salad known as Escalivada a warm side dish of grilled vegetables, usually eggplants, sweet red peppers, sweet onions, tomatoes, naturally olive oil & finally some salt & of course the omnipresent garlic. It can also be served as a tapa ( finger snack), with coca (Catalan flatbread), or as a side dish of grilled meats & fish. Its main characteristic is the smokey flavor of its grilled vegetables.

A fairly wise choice for anyone who wants to try Catalan salads in the coolest of environments and lots of choices on the menu for everyone is L’Antic Bocoi del Gotic in Baixada de Viladecols, 3. In the menu, you will find original salads with varied ingredients like salmon, foie, parmesan, and mushrooms. and coques de recapte (typical Catalan dish that is made with a thin base of bread dough and virgin olive oil).

They also offer the traditional Catalan tomato bread with Jabugo ham, cheeses, carpaccios and the two classics of Catalan cuisine; the escalivada and the esqueixada (Gluten free bread is available). At the end of your meal, you can choose one of our home-made desserts, which we are sure, will not disappoint you.
