KGB Museum

There’s more to Mala Strana than its central square and one of them is the KGB Museum. Mere steps away from Mala Strana’s square lies this small but very interesting museums. It was founded by a non-governmental society called Black Wind whose members collected for years unique exhibits related to the activities of the national security authorities in the time of communism.

The KGB Museum of Prague holds rare objects that used to belong to the leaders and the spies of KGB and the USSR such as the death mask of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, the weapon with which Trotsky was killed, equipment taken from KGB laboratories, Beria’s personal belongings and many other.

You will also find a photographic exposition of Prague of 1968 made of pictures that were shot by KGB officers at the time. However the highlight of your visit will be the connoisseur owner/curator/showman of the museum who will guide you through this fascinating exhibition in a quite graphic & entertaining way. Ironically enough this museum is very close to the US Embassy.
