Universitetsplassen Square

Adjacent to the Studenterlunden park & the National Theater lies the Universitetsplassen or Univesity Square. In this square we find the three neoclassical buildings, the Domus Bibliotheca to the right, the Domus Media in the center, and the Domus Academica to the left (seen from Studenterlunden) form the harmonious trinity of the University of Oslo Faculty of Law.

Built between 1840-1851 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, architect of the Altes Museum in Berlin, the buildings, or more specifically the Atrium of Domus Media (central building) was the venue where the Norwegian Nobel Institute awarded the Nobel Peace Prize from 1947 to 1989 to personalities such as Martin Luther King and Mother Teresa among others.
