Casa Milà

One of the many wonders Antoni Gaudí left behind is known as the Casa Milà or La Pedrera (Quarry). Built during 1906-1912 by Gaudi for the prominent Mila family (Roser Segimón and her husband Pere Milà) this rare specimen of architecture was considered a controversial building at its time, with people often making fun of it for its unusual almost abstract shape.

A UNESCO world heritage monument today & one that will be taught in architectural schools for hundreds of years to come for all of its eccentricity, its minor details like the wrought-iron railings & major standouts like its curve-lined facade that we see in many of Gaudi’s works. There are several different tours offered by the administrators of the museum of La Perdera with the nocturnal guided tour being the most surreal of all.
