Visit Vlaeykensgang Street

Visit Vlaeykensgang Street. The hidden street Vlaeykensgang is a cobbled little alleyway connecting Hoogstraat, Oude Koornmarkt(corn market) & Pelgrimsstraat that will make you feel like stepping back in time. This tourists’ favorite site is exactly like the small alleys of the Middle Ages when many streets weren’t wider than a doorway thus operating as a gated community.

Vlaeykensgang was formed in 1590 & was originally inhabited by shoemakers. Today it’s an atmospheric refuge from the modern world with informal restaurants and antique shops that can make you believe in time travel. Take a seat on one of its benches and listen to the Cathedral’s Carillon concert which is held on Mondays.
